Being relatively new to the Corvette hobby, I set my sights on an 80-82 model because of their exterior styling. Little did I realize that I would like the interior so much.
At a recent show, I looked at the interiors of vette from 84 to about 2002 and I was so glad I bought an '81.
GM interior designers kinda dropped the ball there for a while.
I agree, I'm totally heppy with mine. The seats I think are an improvement over the earlier C3 seats. The C4 interior is sort of uninspired in my opinion. Not that the interior is all that great, but it's not bad.

I really like the design of the c3's, but when I look at C4's (no offense to any owners here) the design looks .. can't think of a word for it.
I wonder if it is because pre-c4 designs have become classic, and post c4 design is still for the most part current, leaving c4's as "dated"? In early C3's they were trying to use a lot of slick technology with the vacuum headlights and the fiber optics (for a while) The c4 came out and they were trying to incorporate a lot of new at the time stuff. Maybe in a few years the c4 will also become classic looking in my mind.
Having said that, they are still corvettes
The early C4 designs were rather 'industrial': functional, with no particular style or class. They were designed to make money, more than they were to be "stylish". In later C4 years, GM realized that they would have to upgrade the interior just to be competitive.
