My oil pressure gauge isn't working. I am thinking it is probably the sending unit. I think I have found the unit....just left of the distrubuter. My question is, is there an easier way to remove it than having to remove the entire distrubuter? I can't get a wrench on it due to lack of space between it and the firewall.
Other than that....has anyone seen any good posts on troubleshooting oil pressure guages.
Not a very tough circuit. Disconnect the wire from the sender, check the gauge, ground the wire, check the gauge. You should be able to get on the sender with a small pair of channel locks.
Go to the oil pressure switch location and pull the wire off of it. The oil pressure gauge is a twin to the fuel gauge only with a thinner damping oil and a different face. The scale is exactly the same. 0- no oil pressure, 90 ohms is max.
If you pull the wire from the sender the pressure should to to max. If you ground this wire out it should to to 0. If you do this and the gauge works then the issue is in the sending unit.
