You're a little high... they priced out at about $2,200 from Al Knoch. If they're bought on sale they'd be less.

I just read the "10 things to know before buying first Vette" thread and luckily, I checked all of those things.
The water pump, Q-Jet, Alternator, A/C, radiator, battery, belts, plugs, cap/rotor have all been rebuilt or replaced. It also has new calipers, wheel cylinders, rotors and pads. It does need painting but there are no cracks and I couldn't find any repair work.

I know Camaros, not Corvettes, so I would like opinions on whether I got it for a fair price. I paid $9000
What rear end gears did they use on Stingrays? L-48 engine

Welcome to the '73 Club!! Looks like a great car to start with. If you are handy with a wrench, you can keep costs in line. As long as you are not planning on having this car as your daily driver from day 1, you should have no problems getting this '73 in good working order. Like others have said, inspect the suspension and decide what you want to spend on interior restoration and cosmetics and you will get a lot of enjoyment out of your car. My '73 convertible was in rougher shape than yours starting out, so hang in there - should be a lot of fun!

I think you did well. My '73 isn't as nice as yours and I paid a lot more!

Enjoy,
John

its a hobby, like golf or what ever , it takes money to have fun .

Can't really look at it as an investment . Money you use to have fun .

Thanks for the compliments and advice. I drove it home today and the only things that don't work are the clock and the radio tuner. I'll spend tomorrow going over it and cleaning it up. I need to find out why the DS headlight won't come up without giving it a pull. I found a thread with a hand drawn diagram of the vacuum system so it shouldn't be too hard. I have rebuilt several aircooled VW's and a 3rd gen Camaro and after getting underneath it, I felt like a beginner at it. I have never seen a rear suspension and differential/axle setup like that. Gonna spend some time on here and some reading my shop manual when it arrives.

The block number does match. That was the one thing that I wanted to be correct. I have looked all over the car and except for exhaust, some screws and some engine tins, I can't find any rust The frame is in great shape and what part I have seen, the "birdcage" is rust free. Maybe for once I bought something without being lied to. I went through an '85 Z-28 fiasco a few years ago and don't want to repeat it. The suspension bushings all need replacing but I can handle that job.

3 questions. Where are all of the places to inspect the "birdcage" without removing too much?
The QJet was rebuilt 2 days ago and it got new plugs, wires and cap/rotor. When I was driving home, it "spit" back through the carb on light accleration 2-3 times. I am thinking (hoping) that the timing is a little off. Refresh my memory, is that a sign of too advanced or too retarded?
Do the stock radios have a string that is connected to the tuner ****? I remember working with the non digital radios years ago and tightning a string up on some because it was loose. How hard is it to remove the radio?

I can already see that this car is gonna be like heroin and nicotine, an addiction almost impossible to break. Love it!!

I found a thread with rusty birdcage pics on it and went and looked t mine. The pillars are completely smooth with black paint. The doglegs are smooth and solid. The area around around the info tag, in front of it and bottom of the doors are rust free. It must have been garaged all of those years. Now I need to get busy and get one built to park it in here.

That's the best news that you can ask for. Pretty much everything else is a reasonable job and expense but birdcage rust is evil.
