Hey guys - thinking about selling my 69 numbers matching 4 speed coupe. I bought it three years ago and paid $28,000 (it was before the market crashed - that said, I probably still paid a bit more than I should have). It's a small block 350/300 and admittedly, a low optioned car. Does have an older frame off and I have put around $7,500 in it since. Car does not need anything major (always can use something minor). Would like to get $28,000 (looking to purchase a C2) am I way off the mark?
Car looks nice in the pictures, but that sounds like an awful lot of money for a small block, low option coupe.

I realize $28k is a lot. I guess I'm hoping it's on the "high end" and not ridiculous. Condition is definetly in my favor but SB and low options are not.
Having really clear and well lit underside photographs available, as well as close up shots of the VIN plaque in the "A" pillar, the #2 body mounts under the kick panels, and maybe even the windshield frame under the mouldings will dramatically help in substantiating your asking price to an educated buyer.
I wouldn't touch a shiny 427/435 car with rust issues at any price......but I'd pay up for a pristine and "perceived to be" rust free small block low optioned car that presented itself correctly.
Is the price right ? Depends on the market I guess........patience usually gets you the right buyer if you advertise the vehicle accordingly. Does the trim tag match the current color scheme ? Can you get those pics and what will they document ?
In the last 12 months I have looked at 6-7 different chrome bumper C3's within 250 kms of my local area........and passed on all of them because of undisclosed rust. There are lots of shiny, but rusty, C3's out there with an owner hoping that they get the "bubba buyer"........but the bubba buyer usually can't make a decision, and lowballs you anyways if they do. I would have traveled across the continent to see the right car at the time, if the right information was in the ad. And I would look at said ad before all others that were listed, if the right information was in that ad to begin with, as I am sure many other educated buyers would do as well. Having sold high end cars for 20+ years I can tell you that educated buyers pull the trigger much faster, and will pay up when they see the right car.
As for myself, I am totally out of the car market now, as I am watching and waiting to see how far the economic ball drops after the US elections, and how badly Europe falls apart when the Euro collapses.

Right now I'm in the "thinking about it" stage of selling but I absolutely agree with your statement. Spent way too much time (although overall a good experience and fun) looking at cars before I found this one. Last thing I would want to do is wast my time or a potential buyers time with misleading information.
I appreciate everyone's input! I may just break out the camera, write up the cars details and see what happens. After all, Columbus took a chance (although our native American brothers got screwed)!!

Your damn straight we got screwed! Good luck with the sale, you have a nice car there. I agree with Easy Mike, don't sell a SB short.
