79 Vette Hood Latch (driver side)
Greetings!
I wanted to run this by you all before I went off doing anything.
Sometimes the driver side of my hood will come unlatched when I am driving. Sometimes it occurs when I go over a bump. Sometimes it just happens when driving on level land.
So does it make sense to obtain a new latching mechanism? This problem never occurs on the passenger side.
Is this a common type of problem?

Don't go buying a new mechanism before you adjust what you've got. I've never had to do it on my 79, but I think the procedure is outlined in the AIM. My AIM is in the garage and I'm not, but let me know if you need further instruction. I'll see what I can do to help.

Pete's correct.....I recently took a shim out of each side of mine to bring the hood even with the fenders. Funny, all this time I'd never really noticed....but my buddy who was visiting picked up on it right away. There's lots of "adjustability" in those latches......a little tweaking and you'll have her sorted.
