Sounds like you've knocked a couple teeth off the regulator gear. It's a pretty common problem with 68-82 power window cars.

You can buy a whole new regulator (about $160), or just the gear ($29). Either way, you have to pull the regulator out of the door. You'll have rivets to drill out to do it.

If your going to the trouble of opening the door up, I'd replace the anti-rattle cushions, the 2 window track rollers and maybe the window motor, while I was in there.

clean and re-lube all the tracks and rollers while it is apart. Mark(the location) the the adjustment bolts before taking them out so you won't have to do much adjusting when it goes back together.

lol, and suddenly a small project becomes a winter project. I was thinking that while you had the door apart you might as well rebuild the engine.

i'd replace the spring if you try the repair only instead of replacement of the whole.

What I can tell you about this... Don't cheese out and buy the imported regulator. The wheels are too large, the arms are not bent correctly... They sent one in for us to install and to pull this off I had to change the three rollers and re-bend the arms.

Go with the USA made one.. It will cost you more but well worth it in the long run..

And... we will be putting up a junk note on this on the web site part. If I pull it from the site then no one will know to stay away from it... If I put a note up they will know in advance.
