Loose Door Mirror
I bought left and right replacement mirrors 6 months ago and the driver side mirror is worse than the one I took off. I did a search and it said to soak the mirror in gas overnight to remove the glass to tighten the ball stud. I can't get the glass off. am I doing something wrong?

I did mine on my 68. I soked it for about 24 hrs and it came right out. I am sure the mirror is original. Some say to soak in mineral spirits. Give it some more time.

I soaked it overnight, I'll try it longer now. After the glass is out I'm OK. Thanks

Will soaking it in the gas cause any discoloration of the chrome?

I read the attached write up on how to do this. I think it answered my previous question about discoloration.
I have several loose mirrors. I am going to give this method a try.
