Mayan, lots of people on this forum enjoy trying their hardest to belittle and make fun of other people when they start talking about a wing. It can get ugly fast.
Most of these guys have cars that start shaking and squeaking over 100 MPH. They are scared to go fast so the thought of you putting such a bad-*** wing on your ride makes them angry, since they realize they will never achieve the stability you will be enjoying with such a magnificent piece installed. If they seem bitter I think this might be the real reason why.
In all seriousness, if you want to put a wing on your car *that big* it might break your back deck at over 100 MPH, If you attach it straight to the fiberglass. You might want to consider downsizing to something a little smaller for practicality reasons. Otherwise get ready to do some fabrication either bracing or repairs!
Personally I'd be embarrassed to drive that thing.
BTW, I also remember reading that the Lambo spoiler was a $5,000 option, and it dropped the top speed of the car by 5 mph.
Would you be embarrassed to drive this?:
or this?:
You know I once had an uncle that would wear the brightest green pants with multicolored plaid shirts and he did it because he didn't give a $h1t. He didn't do it to be cool or classy. He did it to be obnoxious. Sometimes it's fun to be obnoxious and over the top.
Thanks to those that gave comments about the actual driveability of such an addition. I hadn't even considered that.
Honestly Mayan, I'm sure all these guys, myself included, weren't directing their comments directly at you...just the idea of the car.
But are you seriously trying to compare that Vette to a Superbird or Countach? If over the top is what you're after, there was a "cammo'd" C4 on here the other day that'd be right up your alley.
Anyone know where one could purchase an aftermarket Lambo spoiler? I assume this came off of a Countach.
The look of the car is decent minus the wing but I sure hope that car started the journey to this as a total wreck loss and not a number matching true collector.

In all honesty, yes, I would be embarrassed to drive either of those cars. They are both ridiculous, cartoonish cars. Plus, I wouldn't be able to help thinking that everyone who saw me driving such a car would just automatically assume that I was overcompensating for a small *****.

Scott I see when you were thinking of upgrading to 18" wheels nobody was on your thread trying to make you feel like a fool though.
So you like big wheels. He likes a big wing. What is the difference?
Embarassed to drive a car like that, you are funny. Build something you like and enjoy it. Who cares what anyone else thinks.
I would drive either one of these cars in a second, but I can't say I'd compare that to driving the car in the OP, nor would I remotely be concerned with anyone's concerns about me overcompensating.
Well, 18" wheels aren't that big. Do a google search for "donk", then you will see the wheel equivalent of the ridiculous park bench wing.
In the post you reference, I was asking to see pics of 'vettes with 18" wheels, to decide if I like them. I still haven't decided yet, but I will probably end up going with 17" wheels.
Individual tastes are what it is all about, (my grandpappy used to say "It would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing!") and making your car "yours" by modifying it is really the heart of our hobby, it's true, but it's the same with the clothes we all wear. It's a free country, you can wear whatever clothes you want, but if you walk around in public wearing flip-flops, a tuxedo, and a football helmet, people are going to make fun of you. Same with our cars. If you bolt a set of deer antlers to the hood, and glue **** carpet onto all the body panels, I'm going to laugh at you.
let me leave you with this thought: What would you think about a C3 gasser?
Odd thing is, he didn't ask for anyone's opinion at all, just where to find the wing and many of you launch into slamming what he wants to do to HIS car. You don't have to like it - at all - and you also don't need to make people feel like crap just to humor yourself.
Getting really out of hand on these forums. Give it a rest already.

Ya know, after a good night's sleep, and reading Adam's post, I have decided that Adam is right. To the OP, I wish you success in your endeavor, and the only real advice I can give you is that it may be a bigger project than you think. I have read that mounting a big wing on the back deck like than usually involves dropping the fuel tank in order to be able to get at the fasteners. And a big wing like that, which will incur a good amount of drag, will need to be securely fastened. Good luck!

I wondered about that as well. Maybe even some support under the rear deck where the mounting points would be?

I`m thinking he could glue a piece of sheet metal to the underside at the mounting points for support.... (like the metal header in front of the headlights)?
