Default Single horn note

My `73 came with a single horn - - (that sounds like a bleating bovine in heat).

I did a search without success - - in a single horn car, was the horn a high or low note? (am guessing low)

thanks

Have you traced the wiring to verify that you're not missing a horn?

Hi C,
When the change to one horn was made it was a low note.
Regards,
Alan

My '72 only has one horn also. You described it perfectly.

Like most, don't use my horn often, but nice to have one that can be heard when needed. Quite easy to change out, or add another tone though, as done this a couple times. Careful how far you go, as my dad got a Buick off the lot years ago, that had a four tone horn option on it. Thing sounded like a circus parade. You could sure hear it though.

Being a musician, and having had to deal with replacing horns on my vette, I can tell you that there is more than one way to skin a cat. You basically want to use harmonious tones. Therefore, if you're not concerned with 100% authenticity, you can use various different tones and get something that sounds good. For instance, a C low and a high E work great. Or an E with the higher G works too. You could also get the C, E and G for the tri-tone. If you want to go all out, get the C, E, G and Bb (B flat) and you'll really make an enterance.
Good luck!

I've always wondered about the origin of that phrase.
Who really needs to know more than one way to skin a cat?
And if you do, you're one sick puppy. (Pun intended)
