Default Driving Again...(pics)

We have a drought here but it does mean 80*F temps and sun: Corvette weather. Hit some country roads and then dropped by the Canada Science and Techology Museum.

http://www.sciencetech.technomuses.ca/english/index.cfm

This Canadian National (#6200) steam locomotive was constructed by the Montreal Motor works in June 1942. It was operated by CN in Eastern Canada before being transferred to the Museum in 1967.

This lighthouse, erected in 1908 at Cape North, Nova Scotia, is constructed of 32 cast-iron plates joined together with bolts. It stood vigil over the Cabot strait until 1980.

The Convair Atlas rocket was first flown in June 1957. It is the type of launch vehicle used during most Project Mercury flights, including that of Lt. Col. John Glenn. It is on loan from the US Government.

This artifact was manufactured by General Motors Corp. in May of 1974 at St. Louis, Missouri. It is one of 5,474 produced. It is still operable today.

Thanks for listening. Drive those old Corvettes!

How does being in a drought affect your ability to wash your Vettes? Are they restricting that use of water or is that permitted - or just do it in the garage so no one can see you?

(Note the colour of the grass in the pics.)

There are no water restrictions in the city per se. It has rivers to draw from. In rural areas there is "encouragement" to conserve, but I am not sure what that means. They have communal wells that can go dry I suppose.

I can wash the Corvette if I wish but normally a California Duster does the job. My 1974 rarely sees wet roads and dirt. The top has not been up since April.

We have underground springs here, and when they do impose water restrictions, they do not permit washing cars - which sucks for me (I own 6 cars including my 2 C3's). I'd have to be selective when driving the Vettes during a restriction, but I guess I could do a spray and wipe. Good luck with the drought - glad to hear it hasn't prevented you from keeping that beauty sparkle!
