Default Wheel Help...

Can I please get some recommendations on wheel width. I have a 68 and am wanting to run the widest rim possible front and back. I would like to put 18" on the rear and 17" on the front (Torque Thrust II's). I'm looking for back space information and I also heard that relocating the e-brake brackets would be ness? Where do you relocate the brackets too? Thanks in advance for the help, Jason

you relocate the bracket to the top of the trailing arm. Did you use the search engine on this site to find the numerous posts covering your question?

I don't think they make 18" wide Torque Thrust II's, man.

Hey, I'm just joking with ya! But there is something I've been wondering about. Why do you want to go with a smaller diameter front rim? This is typically a styling cue used on newer cars where the front of the body is much lower than the back of the body, and looks weird on older cars. Is it because the front tire needs a little more room, since it turns?

Keep the shiny side up!

245 in front and 275 to 285 in rear are good. anything over 4.5 bs in rear and you probably need to move ebrake. i did it recently.

Here are the different wheels ive had on my car....

Heres the original wheels I had on when I first did the restoration,
classic rally wheels....

Heres a pic of my car with Cragar SS wheels 15s front and rear

Then I switched to Boyd Coddinton J5rs, 18s front and rear

And have changed once again to Budnik Fontanas. 17s in front 18s in rear

Coddingtons with tires are for sale in the parts thread.
