Default Front Spoiler Extention

Has anybody made the 4"-41/2" rubber extention for a '79 and where to find this type of material? Ed

Ed-

This spoiler was only used on cars with L-82, h/d cooling on cars without the optional spoiler package... I have 1 only in stock..

Willcox, any chance of getting more of those since you said you only have 1 in stock? I have a 79 L-82 A/C car. Would that necessitate the HD cooling pkg? I do have the auxilary electric fan. Mine doesn't have that rubber extension, and it runs hotter than I'd like on the interstate.

If you have HD cooling (electric fan and a trap door fan shround), L-82, with air.. and no urethane spoiler then it is my belief that you had this on your car and someone replaced it.

I have one here for a pattern and I will send it out for pricing.. Since this is a 1 year only item I'm not sure he demand would justify making this but we will see.

I"m sorry, I don't have any additional ones that I can sell.

Yup, I have the trap door shroud and aux fan, and I too believe the extension was removed some time in the past. Wish I were a little faster seeing this post, that extension would be on it's way to VA instead! Thank you so much for looking into this! Does anyone have a picture of one installed? I've never actually seen one.

The extension actually riveted to the front of the ABS spoiler. It was done so with a rivet that had about a 1/2" head. It was a standard pop rivet... Funny.. my 79 had one of these and after a few years I thought I'd better order in me a replacement just in case... Well I got rid of the car years and years ago and never installed it..

When installed it doesn't look like a factory installed item either..

I'll look and see if I have a picture of the car, but I do have a picture from the AIM.. I'll see if I can dig that up tonight and post it on the site.

Thanks Karol, I forgot about that thread, and I even commented in it. CRS is catching up to me! Willcox, I have an AIM, I'll go look it up there too. Also, Willcox, I wouldn't want you to go through any trouble solely on my part. I can always look for one at Carlisle.

Boy.. what a mess I've gotten myself into. Ed79 called and purchased the only extension we had to sell and Norm did not remove it from the web site. I've had four orders come in on this part number and all have been refunded.

I do not have anymore to sell and I wish I did.

I shouldl have some pricing on a reproduction soon I hope.

its not an issue with me Ernie, I felt a bit guilty grabbing a 'one year only 79 for my 76' and was sending you an email to let a '79' owner have it. It all worked out for the best, respectfully, bob

Good Deal Bob... But guess what else happened since my last post...

I ran up to the shop we were having make them to see where they were at on it... They should have me pricing tomorrow.. Possibly product by Friday... Since it would be a one year item part the run won't be as large had it fit other years but hopefully the run will be large enough.

I'm actually leaning towards the 'pace car' version , that should leave you enough for the 79 folks, but havent decided yet, you'll be the first to know. many thanks, bob

Not a problem Bob.. At least it opened my eyes up to the fact that we could get them. It also opened a door to a local manufacturer that can produce other things for me. I'm all geared up now..

Interesting.

In spring of 1978 the original motor in my BBC '73 was tossed and replaced with a new LS6 crate assembly and 188 heads (all date coded late '77, and it's a 959 block by the way). Here's part of the original invoice:

And a recent picture or the motor:

At that time, the radiator was pulled and fitted with an additional core. Also, we added the rubber spoiler to the front:

It's off the car right now because in 2005 the car got a repaint, and I've never gotten around to putting it back on; probably because it runs at an indicated 170 regardless.

Can't explain why it was available in '78, but that's the way it was.

I can make the spoilers... although I'm not happy with the cost to do it, I have to understand that it is a limited very small run.

So if anyone on this thread is interested in one please post or send me an email..

We will be contacting those that ordered the single spoiler the other day. and I will be creating a new link on the site should one wish to order this item.

The price will have to be the same due to the limited fit of this part, 50.00.
