I am trying to enhance the look of my car by painting the faded emblems. I have read where people have used toothpicks or small detailing brushed. Does anyone know what paint colors or codes were used or which ones look best?
Thanks.
i redone mine with the testors brand model car enamel and a small brush
the corvette script was cleaned good spayed gloss black then carefully cleaned the top area with solvent
I second the Testors enamel model paint.
Testors Red and Testors White and Testors Black.
First, remove emblems from the car.
Then chemical strip all the old paint.
Wash the emblems in dish soap.
Apply the Testors paint with a toothpick by dripping a small amount into the correct areas and allowing it to "flow" out smoothly. This will eliminate all brush marks.
Allow to dry over night and then apply second coat of paint.

im in the process of doing the same thing where can u get the double sided adhesive tape to reinstall them? My fender emblems ans nose emblem had tape behind them
I too did my 79's emblems w testors paint. white and black looked great, the red was too red. factory emblems had just a hint of burgundy. still 1000% better though. I wound up replacing all of them though, as the chrome wasn't up.to snuff. repainting them is a great idea though if you're looking to save some bucks
Here is a photo of my gas lid emblem which was repainted using Porcelain enamels for glass/metal. You bake the emblem after painting it to create a permanent coating that does not peel or fade in direct sunlight. These paints (Scarlet Red, Anthracite Black and ??? [bright] White) can be purchased at Michael's Craft Stores (check internet for other possible suppliers). You also need a small, round, fine-tipped artist's brush to 'wick-on' the paint to the completely stripped emblem.

The Corvette script on my 77 is dull to say the least. I am guessing it was shiny chrome at some point and it has lost all of it's luster? Any tips on how to bring this back to life? Has anyone tried chrome paint?

That emblem looks really good! By chance do you know the brand of paint you used?
