Looking at a 1976 chevrolet corvette stingray in great shape. Person is asking $10,000, says it has around 80,000 miles and a new engine if I need it??????
Didn't open the hood to show us and said last time he had it on the road in 2003 it over heated?
No pictures, the body and interior were in great shape, however, without seeing under the hood to check for any wires chewed or any other damage, was hard to tell. I figured for $10,000 is should be turn key and drove right off the property? This would be my first time buying a corvette and I like the old body styles better....what would be a good price to off this person? Thanks for the advice!!!

$3000, and that's without looking at it. It's a 35 year old car which most likely will need everything. The owner is unrealistic with his asking price and would most likely be offended by that offer, but at the end of the day, it only worth what someone is willing to pay. I would keep looking, Fall is coming and price will go down, because people don't want to store them.
Three thousand is too generous if car doesn't run on its own power! Get a forum member to go with you to look at the next vette you want to buy it will save you allot of time and anger and over paying

I would offer the same advice as the other members. For $10k it should be in very good condition and drivable.
Last ran in 2003, and it overheated? Plus the owner has a new engine in case you need it? It sounds as if he may know you will need it. If it overheated it could have some engine damage. Not driving it in 9 years will cause other reliability problems.
