Well I have sorted out all the gremlins in my 82 except for the air induction in the hood. My question is does the car have to be in "D" in order to operate? Because in "P" and jabbing the throttle it will not open. This is what I know, solenoid is good and you can jumper the wire from the relay and it will open. The signal wire coming from the ECM has good continuity, but checking the signal wire going to the relay has no signal under full throttle. I did just recently replace the ECM because my lockup did not work and come to find out the PROM was bad which was giving me a bad ground and thing was probably the same reason why the air induction won't work.
So if you guys or gals tell me that the door should operate in park just jabbing the throttle then I'm at a total loss
i got rid of mine years ago .it should open under full throttle.it does get its signal from the ecm.i dont know what info it needs to send a signal.i get fresh air all the time .
You can use a vacuum switch from a 83-84 trans am to ground the flapper door motor instead of the ecm doing it. Or just remove the flapper door or wire it open.

Full throttle as in with the hood open and in park then mash the pedal? That's what I'm trying to determine. I did remove mine but put it back, it's just driving me nuts that I can't get it to work like it's suppose to.

I've been looking for the switch used on the 80-81 Z-28s. There was a switch mounted above the gas pedal, very simple. That's interesting about the 83-84 T/As used a vac switch though
Yeah, the switch on my 81 Z28 operated off electrical signal from the pedal only, nothing to do with the ECM. On my Z, you could turn the key on, the car didn't have to be running, and the flap opened under WOT.
