Default Another weatherstrip question- deck lid

I am finally to the weatherstripping. I had a large box with what I thought was a complete new set-first mistake. Mostly it is old junk, and some fuel line. But I do have the deck lid piece, and I hope someone can post a pic on how it mounts. The AIM is conspicuously missing the weatherstrip on the deck lid. Also, my strip seems to be about 9 inches too long for the deck lid- is that normal? If someone has a GM part number for the weatherstrip on the deck lid, I can see if I have the right piece.

Can someone please post a picture of their deck lid in the open position?

Hi Dave,
This will get you to the top again for maybe a picture.
The 71 AIM shows the weatherstrip running completely around the 2 sides and rear of the lid.
It lists 3 ounces of glue to be used, so it must be a long piece. Wouldn't surprise me if the extra length is there so you can 'cut to fit'!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Dave

I'm sure I have more, but this is all I have access to right now. I don't remember cutting the weather strip for the deck lid or the hood. I had bought a Corvette Rubber kit.

I can dig some more up tonight, I'm sure I took pictures of the original also

Thanks! That is what I needed. I am also amazed at how different our lids are. Mine has no pin latches in the front corners, and the bumper pads, also shown in my AIM, have no mounting holes on my lid.
You guys are the best! See you Friday?

Oddly I have the same piece (or so I though) waiting to go on mine and its about 3" too short when wrapped around the deck lid as 70BB vert showed. It does have little right angled pieces on each end though to fit in the gap there and I was just thinking of cutting them off and glueing on the shorter one as mine only really leaks along the back of the lid in heavy rain. My 68 also doesn't have the pins at the front of the deck lid so it's one more 68 quirk I guess.

Cheers,
Azza
