Default Tail light differences

I tried a search for tail light differences but couldn't find an answer. I have a 1974 and need to replace the tail lights. I see several options but want to stay with the original look. What makes the 1974 lights special? Most parts places list 1974 as a single year light only. Thanks for the help.

'74 taillights are a single year item. The unit unbolts from the back side (no screws that attached the lenses from the outside).
Hope this answers your question. Brgds, Bill

Thanks for the information. Does this mean I can only replace the lenses with 74 specific? Is it possible to replace the entire tail light set from a different year?

I'm almost positive that no other year will fit. Given a big enuf hammer, you can make most anything fit, but I don't believe it would look too good. When I bought my '74, the seller gave me a box of parts including 2-3 taillights. He said he'd bought them off ebay without realizing '74 was a one time taillight deal. He was right. They didn't fit.
A backup light and a rear parking light were broke and it wound up costing me approx $200 to replace all four taillights so they matched.
Brgds, Bill

74s do not have separate lenses like the 68-72 cars had. You have four taillight assemblies. They are one year only.
