just picked up my wife's car from a local body shop today. No real damage, just some severe rock chips on the hood of her 2 year old Toyota that we thought was better to catch now, before the salt takes it's toll over the winter. They did a real nice job matching the paint, as they completely stripped and repainted the hood - guess the wife likes to tail-gate dump trucks!!!!!!
What I noticed, and wanted to ask you guys about, was the transparent "bra" film that they applied to help reduce stone chips in the future. I never really thought about it before, but it seems that with our cars, this would really give us piece of mind with our expensive paint jobs.
Has anybody has this film applied to your front ends/ mirrors, etc? If so, how does it stand up to polishing/waxing etc?
I was expecting pictures of a non C3 variety for a second there . I know there is a 3M product you can use for road rash around the wheel wells, but not sure if they make a larger "sheet" for the nose/hood. Worth investigating.
I have a friend with a Cobra and a Blown ******, he had a local shop that does whole wraps on cars apply clear vinyl on the front and it looks and works great.
I know that this is probably a little to far away, but we have a company in Melbourne that is owned by a 69 vette owner (since 1985) that may be of interest. Check out his website http://www.invisiblecarbras.com.au/ .
