Also can someone tell me what piece this is and if it is salvageable or should I just trash it?

I believe that is the trim that goes across the top of the windsheild, and I would trash it. I don't think there's any saving it.

AAA dye is good. problem like you describe can occur if you spray in hot, muggy weather. the paint is cool when first sprayed, attracts condensation, causes a flat look. paint where air is drier and cooler.

i dyed my roached out sun burnt red interior and i used duplicolor black. great coverage and a good spray tip on their spray bombs. not too shiny either. i think it looks just right.

You pay for pigment folks. When it comes to aerosols the propellent material is just that; a propellent is just that. Pigment is what gives you your color and coverage. It isn't often that a propellent will cause the paint finish to change.
