Yes and no. It isn't actually in the car. A copy of the Corvette Order was glued to the top left corner of the fuel tank at the factory. This document has become known as the tank sticker.
After 40+ years, your tank sticker may or may not still be there.
You might be able to peek around the rubber fuel collar with a good light source and see if you see something.
Hi Ron,
This is from a 71 but will give you an idea of what Mike described.
Regards,
Alan
You can sometimes see it by looking through the gas door opening and past the rubber boot on the filler neck.
Resist touching it if it's there until you drop the tank. The paper is VERYVERYVERY fragile at this point.
If you find it on the tank, it will be on the driver side. Mine was glued on so heavily that I just dusted it off, took lots of 3MB pictures and covered it with a plastic sheet and duct tape. It belongs there.
how long did they use the tank sticker? i have an 81 I got from my parents who owned the car since 1992 and have never modified the car. Woud the 81 still have a tank sticker?
Yes, but there might be an easier way to do things. If your car was assembled at St. Louis, go here http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area and see if you can obtain a copy of the original dealer invoice for your 81. The invoice has everything the build sheet would show, plus prices and other information not on the build sheet.
