Moved fron NY to DE this summer. In NY, my 73 was exempt. First time thru inspection, my 73 failed the DE emission test (they test back to 1969 vehicles). Made some minors adjustments and it passed the second time. Now I'm good for another 2 years.
Registered in Ohio as a Historical Vehicle, no EPA tests required.
Even before I decided to get Historical plates, I never had to EPA check this car. No smog stuff on it for the last 15+ years and it's all long gone to a landfill somewhere.
Do not have to re-register the car for 50 years with these plates. I should live so long!
In NY, cars 25 years or older are exempt from emission testing. When I went to get my 79 inspected, the tech said the only thing they check on the exhaust is to make sure it isn't dragging on the ground.
Well then.................I'm feeling really left out...............Here in california, there checking every component and their operation, As well as tail pipe. And it's all done on a dyno running for 3 mins. 1st test is at 15 mph. 2nd is at 25 mph. Good thing though, is it may not pick up a lopey cam............. at 15 mph that is. Any of you register yours in the next county that doesn't have tests? That's starting to look really good.
