How much should someone pay for a used frame if the frame is in good shape with only surface rust, just needs sandblasting and paint? It is for a 1980 Corvette.

It all depends on how much the buyer is willing to spend and how little the seller is willing to take for it.
I have bought a nice frame for $100, although frames are usually priced in the $500 to $1500 price range. I would not pay over $1000 for a nice frame myself. Hope this helps.
I replaced the frame in my '80. So from my experiences try and haggle them down to $1000.00, but $1200.00 is not out of line if the frame is in excellent shape. Remember that stripping (sand blasting or chemical dip) and painting has yet to be done on it.
As a yard marker... you can purchase a brand new frame for a C3 from Collier Technologies starting at $3999.00 so a used frame shouldn't be anywhere near that price.

I sold a bare 1980 frame with the removable cross member a few months ago for $600....and I was happy to get it.
That is what I am getting from most of the responses in the forum. Somewhere between $600 and $1000. A guy, here in Canada wants $1800 and says he gets that price all day long. I think I will keep looking.

That might be a fair price in canada because shipping costs from the states would be prohibitive IHO.

Actually shipping to Canada from the US is not all that bad. I can probably usually $200 to $300. Depending where it is, I can always drive and pick it up to save $500 to $1000.

it's usually the brokerage fees and taxes that kill you
After seeing what things were selling for and the lack of vendors and shoppers, I'd say the market is really soft right now, so, I'd say, if they reallly want to move it they'll be wiling to move on the price also. Be willing to walk away.
There was a Pittsburg guy on here a few weeks ago with one for $1,000, down from $1,500.
