81 C3 AC Question
Looks like my air condition compressor went bad. I was going to pick one up this weekend and replace it. When I replace the compressor will it empty the system of all Freon?

If there is any R-12 or R134a (has it been converted?) then yes, removing the compressor will release this stuff. There is also a possibility that the problem you have with the compressor has already released the contents of the system.

Heads up. It's against the law to vent R12 into the atmosphere. My advice would be to take the car to any automotive AC shop and have them evacuate the system for you. Once you've swapped out the compressor, they can legally charge the system for you.
You can also ask them what i takes to convert to R134a while you're at it.
