Default AIR Smog System are they date coded?

Are AIR system date coded? Are the 68 427/435 same as a 70 LT1?

Thanks

Most of the pieces have date codes on them, but some of the codes are not visible when the equipment is installed.

If you're concerned with judging, use the items specified in NCRS judging guide. BB and LT-1 pumps might be the same, but other pieces will vary.

I think the '68 might use a pump with an integral vent whereas the '70 would not. I don't think any other other component is common to both BB and SB.

The only parts of the smog system that have date codes are the pump itself and the hose clamps. As Mike said, 68 pumps ( and early 69 I believe) are different in that they have the pressure relief valve. The casting number 7801149 is the same though. This is not the part number which I am pretty sure is behind the filter fan. Lt-1 cars also use a different diverter valve. These valves are not dated and used on many corvettes and Chevy cars ( except 68). So to answer the question yes the pump is dated but you can swap other parts from different years with no date as long as they are not 68. To make it more clear than mud- different engines used different pulleys. If you need a 70 set up I can get you in touch with a guy who has it all. Good luck .

Hi Nelson, I am sure he does. He even rebuilds them with all new bearings to work and look like new. In fact, I have an extra set of smog tubes for a SB, a 71 dated pump and maybe the pulley. It was off my friend's 71 LT-1 that he sold and the buyer did not want it. The diverter is wrong though. If you do not care about the date on the pump (it's the right pump, just wrong date) I think all you would need to complete the set is the diverter (29199). Either way, together we can get you set up! Take care, john
