Default Hot Shift ****

It's been a little warm around here, especially with the top down. Doesn't take long to heat up anything metal, including the shift ****
(4 spd). It actually gets too hot to comfortably handle. Besides putting the top up (not an option), any suggestions?
Y'all have a great weekend, brgds, Bill

Put a sock over it when it`s sitting in the sun!

I had a similar thought. Not a sock, but use a wristband that you would wear playing tennis, or other sports. It is small enough that you can cover the ****, but if you got a black or white one, or a color to match your current **** or interior, then it would not really stand out.

Covering it the same way you would put a sunshade in the windshield to block the sun and keep everything from getting hot.

If you carry micro-fiber towels like I do, you could just drape one over the **** when you get out.

If you want to get creative, you could get a Corvette Golf club sock and put it on the ****.

Pull your console plate up and see if your rubber shifter boot is in good shape, without tears and is secure around the shifter shaft.....

engine heat will make it hotter than hell in a nanosecond, replacing mine sure fixed that problem....

Check your tranny fluids....

Had a tranny seal leaking on an old Pontiac years ago. Tranny was mostly dry, and the shifter got REALLY hot because of it.

Thanks for the replies. Kinda leaning towards the golf club cover deal. What I was actually thinking about was a leather replacement **** but don't know if any of the generic replacements would fit. Anyway, thanks again and brgds, Bill
