During the restoration of my '79 the last 6 years I decided to use Rubber for everything. Big mistake. The rubber that the vendors sell is not as strong as the rubber when new. I don't know why but its true. All of my new body mounts have big fissure cracks in them - rear spring cups, rear end mount, front sway bar...the list goes on...I spent a lot of time/money on replacing some of these - only for them to look like crap shortly afterward. I would go poly the next time.

79vetter - do you remember the Vender you purchased those from? Maybe there is 'good / better / best ' rubber bushings and mounts?

I'd also like to know where you got your bushings, even if they sat out for the full 6 years, and were low priced, they should not have dry rotted. Back in the day before accountability , you used to see this all the time with import bushings. it comes from to much 'natural' rubber in the mix

I honestly don't remember the vendor(s) but just like a lot of parts in the corvette business- there are gotchas everywhere. Its very possible that I bought it from vendor X but they came in vendor Y's packaging.
These were sealed rubber parts that looked great when new.
