After the better part of Jun-Aug being gone for work, I finally have all the miles completed for my ZZ4's breakin period. Finally time to change the breakin oil and put in fresh oil and a new oil filter.
I would start a new thread asking what oil to use but you all know the kind of comments that would come with that.
Today's ride was great. Went out and drove about 70-75 miles. Sunny, 70 degrees with a slight breeze. Car has never been driving better than when I did all the updates this winter. Lots of work but totally worth it.
Break in, what do you call a "Break In" We commonly use the ZZ4 Rotating assy in our marine boat application replacements. Once a typical warm up and down, Full throttle runs of 5,500 rpm for 4 to 5 miles at a time. That is our type of break in. No reason to baby these engines at all. If it is going to break, it will let loose early on. But, as of yet out of 28 differant replacement ZZ4's, not one failure. All are running 100%. Glad you have a good running ZZ4. Al

I have no doubt that they are great engines. Just following the written instructions that come with the engine. Hate to spend that kind of money and not do the breakin that the manufacture recommends.

It doesn't hurt to be safe after spending all of that money.
