How does this work?
69 seat belt reminder light. The light looks to be just a screw connector with bulb insert, to the back panel, (where does the bulb get power), and when the switch is depressed it then breaks the circuit, I imagine? What resets it for the next start up?

When the ignition is started, power is sent to the seat belt light. When you push the button, it is a 'monentary OFF' switch that is pushed, so that the power then is disconnected from the light (and stays that way as long as the ignition stays ON). When the ignition is switched OFF, the seat belt light switch resets to the ON condition so that the light will turn ON with ignition the next time.

The original switch had an electromagnet mounted on it that didn't have enough pull to disconnect the power connection from the light. This same electromagnet did have enough pull to hold it off once the button was pushed.
