oil pressure
when i start my 77 oil pressure gauge works or moves up with rpm,but when i shut it off it stops at 30 psi.is the gauge bad or is it something else.i have never had oil pressure gauge not go to zero with engine off.

what i dont understand is when you start the car it goes to 50 psi then you shut it off and come back the next day and turn the key to start it it should show zero since the oil pressure has bled down overnight but it still shows thirty psi.if istart it and as it warms up it does go below 30 and raises with rpm like it should.is thirty psi the new zero?is there a test to see if the gauge is bad or the sending unit before i throw money at parts changing to find the problem.i could hook a mechanical gauge to the engine to see what my oil pressure really is,just trying to eliminate extra work.
