Default 1978 Pace Car Numbering

I know that thre were only 6,502 limited edition replica pace cars made. Does anyone know if each one was "numbered" (like artist proofs) and where that number would be found? Is it hidden somewhere in the VIN?

Thanks

The VIN itself is the number.

The Pace Car VINs ran from 1Z87*8S900001 to 1Z87*8S906502. The only difference would be the engine code (*). The VIN plate is on the driver's windshield post visible from outside the car.

* = 4 for L-82, L for all L-48 variants.

There's your number. Your PC was assembled in April, 1978.

My PC is 2324 and was built April 5th. Look at your trim tag located on the driver's side windshield post when the door is open. Your code should be something like H05, H06, etc. (H is April).

How many miles? Transmission?

Yes, your Pace Car with a G22 date code tag was built, or assembly completed March 22nd. Pace Car production was begun March 18.

BTW, you probably have a yellow rim on your spare tire as well.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you. The car came with just 22.4K on it. It has the 3-speed auto.
