That line needs to connect to the manifold. Do you still have the old engine? Perhaps you can retrieve the old port and reuse it if not they are available from most vendors.
well ****......not what i wanted to hear. No the old engine was junk and is who knows where now. I followed the line from the lights all the way up the car and it ends into a black box that you can see in the picture above right under my pinky. two lines come out of that box, the one on the right (looking at the pic) is the one that runs all the way up to the front
What size carb is that holley? With the milled down center section you going to increase the rating and maybe it's to much for the engine, your to rich gas smell.
I guess I should have asked you earlier what year your car is I am not sure about the box below your hand. The port is not that big of a deal. Do you see a plug in the back of manifold where a port should screw into?
im not really sure if it has the plug or not. Not too sure where to look or what it looks like but i am going to take the car to a buddy tomorrow maybe he can help me. I thank you for all the help tonight
i do notice two things for sure, the distributor vacuum line should go to the ported vacuum on carb not full vacuum at the front bottom as you have it now.ported vacuum is on the front right side top on metering block where you have the headlight vacuum hooked to now .i know the front lower vacuum port is full time vacuum so you could hook the headlight hose to that.in other words switch the two hoses you have in the last pictures and it should solve the problem.the two hoses that go to the round plastic check valve then turn into one hose originally went to a port that screwed into the manifold behind the carburetor.so it would give full unrestricted vacuum.when you hook up the distributor hose from the vacuum advance can to the ported vauum port on the front right side top of the carb you will probably have to recheck the timing since you set it up with full time vacuum advance.the car should run great after you fix this.hope my info was worth all this typing.
the vacuum lines have nothing to do with the wipers, they go into the firewall or what you call the black box next to the wiper motor.they split and one of them goes to the headlight overide and the headlight switch.look under the dash near the steering column and youll see vacuum hoses there.if your wipers arent working its not because of vacuum, its electrical or a mechanical problem.
