I just got a new engine put in my 76 corvette, and now i am having a couple issues. My headlights come on but the do not come up, and my windshield wipers do not come on. Lastly my spedometer no longer works. Does anyone have an idea on how to combat these issues? I dont know if it is a simple fuse or if someone just forgot plug something back in. Thanks.
You either have a vacuum leak or your vacuum line is not connected to the intake manifold. Did you do the engine exchange or someone else. Any chance of a photo of the engine?
well my guess would be the latter. When i pull the light button the lights come on but nothing happens no noise or anything. Is hooking up the vacuum to the manifold difficult? I will try to get you a picture.
Pretty simple. There is a port hole on the manifold that the vacuum port screws into and then the line slides on. Does your car have power brakes? If so is the line connected to the manifold or the base of the carburetor?
Follow the two vacuum lines that turn into one line... what does the single line connect to?
How does your car run right now? Any missing?
Your plug wires all bundled together and crossing over each other can cause missfire issues. You may want to look at some wire looms to neaten them up a bit
ok lemme go outside and look. My car runs really well, the only issues with the motor i have see is like if i turn really hard really fast the motor sounds like it wants to turn off. And sometimes when i turn the car off it putts a couple times after i have turned the key kinda like it didnt want to stop running. It has only happened once or twice
ok i followed the vacuum hose and it connects to the side of the carburetor. I just found out that this hose also involves the wipers soooo this could be the issue
Sounds like your floats maybe set to low on your carb causing the flat spot when you turn hard. The running after it shuts off could be from the idle being set to high and the throttle plate is open to far after the car is shut off.

Is that the line that runs to the brake booster? Or the line that runs to the line that turns into two lines?
it is from the two lines. the two lines run up the side to the from the front of the car. They then connect to another line that runs up by the windshield (assuming the wipers) and the the single line runs to the other side of the carb and connects into it

Those lines need to connect to the intake manifold not the carb. the brake booster is ok at the carb.
