youngbill a metal straight edge long enough to check all four flat mating surfaces of the pan will sometimes help you find a dip, dent, depression or something convex or concave. Those on this forum have years of tried and true hands on experience with our beloved C-3's and they will never steer you wrong. By the way, If you're thinking of what to get me for Christmas, a liter of 18-year old Glenmorangie would be nice.
