Window Tint Ticket

I have a co-worker with darker than usual tint. He has been pulled over a few times and ticketed once. He complains that the cops are picking on him. Everyone in the office tries to explain to him that he is inviting a problem. I agree with everything said above by Marshal.

While driving my '04 Avalanche back from Ecklers after buying a hood for my '76 Corvette I was pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol officer. I wasn't speeding, just cruising down the road with the windows down a mile before he pulled me over.
He comes up to the passenger side and I roll the window down and he stops me before it's all the way down saying "I stopped you because of your tint" I'm thinking "WTF" tint? I don't think it's dark at all, just closely matches the factory tint but he used his meter and verified that I was illegal and issued a warning then went on his way.
So I guess it really depends upon the luck of the draw since I wasn't doing anything to merit being pulled over other than having tinted windows which appears to be enough in Florida to get you pulled over.
My brother-in-law is a police officer with a local city and he told me that only the State Troopers have the meter to measure the window tint so they are really the only ones who could stop you for tint only. I have had one officer who stopped me in the same vehicle for another reason tell me the windshield tint was illegal because it was below the factory marker.
