Default Battery Going Dead All the time

How do I determine what is causing my battery to always go dead on my 82 CE? I know I am missing one of the switches on the drivers side door jamb for the interior light. Can this leave the circuit open?

How do I test circuits to see they are drawing current

Are the wires for the switch touching ground? Did you check your alternator output? Did you have the battery load tested? If the alternator and battery have been checked using an ampmeter see if there is a parasitic drain on the battery. If there is pull one fuse at a time untill the drain stops and then you know which circuit is the problem.

both the clock & radio pull a draw on the battery & if i don't drive for a few weeks my battery gets run down

i use a quick disconnect on the neg side of the battery from May - October as i am on the bikes mostly

Pete.

Well you could hook up a test light in series, meaning disconnect the neg. cable and hook the test light clamp to the cable and connect the sharp end of the test light to the battery terminal. If there is something on the light will be very bright. Now you pull fuses when light goes out you have just located the circuit that is grounded or staying on. I would start with the clock fuse but understand that one fuse / circuit can control several items.
