Of course, if you don't HAVE a garage, that's another story.
With that said, hadn't thought of looking to see what cars show up at our address
Now I have to check it out.Adam
Just looked - was before we moved in. April, 2008. And it was a Tuesday, because the neighbors have their recycle cans out

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I looked the whole outside of the car over and everything in their and the neighbors yards!
Classic car or Collector Car insurance apparently has restrictions - someone else will have to answer that one, I've never pursued that option because I like to drive unrestricted.
The next day I called back and talked to a much more intelligent girl who suggested that I get the car appraised every couple years and submit the appraisal and pictures and just insure for the apprasied amount. My current full coverage would cover what the assumed market value of a 1982 is today. She told me that they use the average bluebook value.

Can't be driven to work- I assume that at work, when I am supposed to be inside working, someone could come up and vandalize the car when I am not looking, so they don't want to be liable.
3500 miles a year- i suppose the more you are out on the road, the more chance of something happening to it, hence more liability for the insurance company.
Will only pay up to $5,000 for paint work- As we all know, paint jobs cost a lot on a classic car, especially a Corvette. Just a way to limit their liability again.
But the advantages to Classic car insurance,
Agreed Upon Value- Once I got an appraisal on my car, they will pay that amount if the car is totaled. Mine was appraised at $27,000. I know, that is more than what I could possibly sell it for, but if it is destroyed in a fire in the garage, wrecked in an accident driving around on a Sunday afternoon, or stolen, they cut me a check for $27,000. no questions, depreictiation, or deductable. Which brings me to the next point,
No deductable - not even a hundred bucks
Cheap Premium- I pay just under $400 a year
The bad news, I only drive my car about 300 miles a year, which means the chance of a accident is pretty slim, but if the car is stolen, which I restored the car and have owned it for most of my kids life (they cherrish it almost as much as I do), Don't know if even the $27,000 check would be worth it, but it would go along way for the funeral celebration we would have for the car.
300 miles a year that is a Saturday or Sunday afternoon ride.
I put 600 miles on my "new" 82 the first week I had it running to MVA, work a couple times, taking my wife to dinner on Friday night and a Sunday afternoon ride.
I put 10,000 miles a year on my motorcycle and I only ride that everyother weekend, to work a couple times a week during the season and one week long trip in the summer.
I would suspect I will do the same with this car.

No, not insulted. The point is the first year I bought the car, it needed new interior, paint, tires, suspension and top. Did most of that work myself and took almost a year.
Then drove it to several show, cruises, and even 3500 miles on the Star & Stripes Tour in July 2002 for the 9-11 disaster (best time ever in my Vette). Then over the next few years, we drove it to some shows and let all 4 of my kids take it to Homecoming and Prom dances.
Since then, it has only gotten out a few times a year because I have had other cars to work on and restore. Currently restoring a '67 firebird.
Point is that the car and I have been through a lot together and I will most likely pass it on down to one of my kids (just got to figure out which one without pissing off the others).
When I go visit my grandma, I always take my dog. It's the truck or my wife's car.
When I go to work, it's a ****** commute and driving either of the vettes isn't going to make me any happier nor is having it parked in a parking lot with a lot of inconsiderate ******.
So I drive it to enjoy it.
I can pick the mileage I want, I just can't use my 'vette as my daily transportation and it has to stay in the garage when it's not out and about. Quite happy with my collector car policy.

I had a car appraised one time and they said "what do you want on the worth line"?
Well I now had a $5000 car appraised at $10000 and soon afterwards sold it because I showed the potential buyer the appraisal and he paid that amount.
If I was an insurance agent and someone made a claim and I looked it up and saw that amount I would get employee of the month because it would be a cold day in hell someone would get $27000 for a non chrome bumper C3.

....... just a heads up
