Default Header compatability

I was wondering if anyone has installed these headers (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G9003/) with pypes exhaust system...if so, how well did it fit together?

Also, are there any issues the same headers and a rack and pinion steering setup?

Any other thoughts on these headers/gotchas?

'77, stock engine

Thanks

If you check-out the Speed Direct tech support website, they list a number of headers installed on Chevy small blocks that may or may not have clearance issues with the Steeroids rack and pinion. The Summit headers do not show up on this list. But I wouldn't consider that "case closed". Hopefully someone here has installed a set with a rack.

Those are the headers I use, worked perfect.
But hooking right up to an exhaust system if very questionable without some type exhaust shop work.

I don' know about these headers, but when I put headers on my '79 I had to replace the starter. The new mini starter had a heat soak issue because of the proximity to the header pipe so I had to change it out for one without the external solenoid.

I have them on my 71 and several other CF members are using them as well. They fit well but most likely will need mods to connect to you stock exhaust, mine did.

Default Alternator brackets....

It will make no difference what header you use as they all with small block engines require q good alternator bracket....those available with the header companies are not very good.....the best I have seen was made by a forum member....it wasn`t too long ago that he was on line....check the bracket subject on the forum

I put Flowtech headers on my '74 with a Rack Attack steering system and had no problems. I had a Pypes exhaust system and it was about a foot short of my headers so I had to add a piece on each side.

I also am putting headers on my sb. While taking off the manifolds I realized i will need a bracket. I was going to go with summitracing or any of the other vendors for the brackets. Why do you say they are not that good?

Anyone know which forum member makes the custom brackets? I searched a bit and was not able to find anything.

If not the forum member....what is my best choice? Any good/bad experiences?
I noticed this one was recommended in another thread:

Thanks
