Hopefully someone has an answer to this question. Was the dash wiring bundle installed already attached to the dash pad or was the bundle installed, then the dash pad put on after that? It seems to me that it would be easier to attach the bundle to the dash pad (install all bulbs etc) then install the pad in the car, but I recognize that there may be some problem with that that I'm overlooking. Anyway, as always, thanks for any and all help.
Hi Bryan,
I think the top pad needs to go in first; then the left side lower dash put in place, but pulled about 3" to the rear so the connections can be made, (both the electrical and tach/speedo connections), then the pad pushed carefully forward; then the center gauge bezel done in the same way; and finally the right side lower pad.
Not an easy job but doable if you're careful.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Good question. AIM diagrams appear to show the harness might have been on the dash panel when the panel was installed. If that was the case, the driver's dash was probably assembled off line with speedo, tach, harness, trip rest, etc, then brought to the car and installed.

That was my impression as well and it seems like it would make a lot more sense to do it that way.
