in the pic, the driver side t-top is not on. very possible the back side of the t-tops sag a little. all the weatherstripping need to be replaced. I've yet to check for seems, but if I do find them, it was a good swap. No squeeks or rattles from the rear end.
I am pessimistic by nature and I am tending to go along with oldgto---maybe a rear end crash and the bubble window and all was pasted on??? More sleuthing is in order.
Alarm bells ringing in my head but I hope I'm wrong. Where have you checked on the car for VIN #s? It would be far easier to change the trim tag and VIN plate from a 77 onto a 78 than to change the rear clip. I've seen Harley titles used on bikes/ frames they didn't belong to. On your Vette you should be able to fairly easily check engine block and head numbers to see if they match the 77 number, or if they even match each other. If no numbers match it's a more difficult task. I'd be most concerned that you might be dealing with a stolen car re-titled under a title from another car. I sincerely hope this is not the case.
Can we see interior picures please. I'd like to see the dash, seats, gauge cluster. Also engine pics and serial numbers. I think your VIN's been changed........sorry.
That's not necessarily what you think it is. That could be from floor pan replacement.
INTERESTING THOUGH is I have the same issue. I have a titled '76 with '76 interior, numbers matching motor (until I pulled it), 76 emblems, etc., but is a bubble glass car. Also has a 80 rear bumper w/wing. ??? I've yet to figure it out. All my glass is etched with the vin number and the driver's side window has a sticker that says this vehicles VIN is on file with the Maple Height Police Department. ??? I've always been tempted to call that PD and ask, but never got around to it.
I'm not too concerned anymore. I'm doing what I want with the car and currently in the process of a resto/mod frame off.

You might be right, but that seem goes through the door seal right behind the door plate and just behind the chrome trim outside under the door. If you find out anything else, let me know.
