You may have spotted my radiator removal thread. Thought I would add a fresh thread. Sourced a replacement mount luckily in the UK and it looks good. Slots in the space no problem but the radiator doesn't sit in very well

Bottom passenger side, note the gap

Driver side sits in fine
Is my radiator the wrong one?
Anyone got pictures of what the radiator should look like fitted? Will I need to break off and reweld the bottom bracket? Or am I just being a fud?
You possibly have an incorrrect radiator support or an incorrect radiator.
If memory serves, you were intending to order the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for your model year. Has it arrived? The AIM shows the correct radiator support for your model year, the correct radiator, the correct mounting brackets, and lists the original GM part numbers for everything.

Yes Mike,
It looks the same on the AIM although I don't have any part numbers on the radiator. What I will do is measure the radiator and put the dimensions on here that maybe someone will be able to compare.
those brackets bend easily and with some 'gentle' adjusting will probably work fine, the guys that order the aftermarket ...non-dewitt...radiators go thru the same issue
Definitely an aftermarket radiator. Yes you're missing the rubber bushings on the bottoms and completely missing the top 2 brackets that mimic what the bottom ones do. It's hard to tell from your pictures if the bottom outlet on the radiator is hitting the bracket. What year is your car again and SB or BB? Must be an automatic because of the built-in tranny cooler in/out line in the radiator.
Are you sure you have the right bracket you sourced? There were 3 different brackets from some years for different radiators. For example, my '71 had a different bracket for the SB 18", SB 26", and BB 27" radiators. You definitely don't have the SB 18" bracket because there would be some flat metal covering the inner left and right sides.
Its a 75 ( but reckon it has a 74 front clip) Standard L48. The main issue I had was that the old one was a bit ragged and knocked about with a hammer. The bottom pipe was also tight against the sway bar. (pics on here of the removal) The seller said that this was a 73 to early 76.
I have the drivers side upper bracket but will need to get a hold of everything else including the shroud and all the fittings.
...I take it that the radiator mounts will still be the same?...
Possibly not. I do not have a 73 AIM (yet), but I have a 74 and a 75. I will not be able to check part numbers until later this evening.
AIMs say the radiator support is the same #399176 for all 74s and 75s. The correct support has studs on the lower brackets for mounting the fan shroud. Four different radiators are listed for the 74s depending on transmissions and factory air. #3030684 is correct for 74s with automatic tranmissions and correct for 75s. Radiator #3030199 for 74 is for AT and AC cars. It is also the service replacement radiator for 73-76 cars. These are coded MC.
The correct fan shroud for small blocks is #342287.

cheers Mike, mine is an auto with air (although disconnected) planning to spend a few hours on it at the weekend test fitting.
