There should be heat shields, agreed, but the flat piece of whatever on the driver's side is not stock. The shields go on the rise up to the firewall and wheel wells. One can be seen on the passenger side.

Also find it curious that all the underside pics are in the front, no rear end shots...

Thanks again for everyones input. I was hoping you guys would pick the car apart. If I'm truly interested in the car I'm going to have get a "hired gun" to check it out which is not cheap. I though I'd get some opinions from knowledgeable pelple to help me decide if I'm going to take the next step with this car.

I'd didn't like what I saw in the pics of the underside of the car . Now I know about the heat shields but I though the work was sloppy too. I'd also would have liked to see pics of the rear half of the car on the lift too.

Well, it looks like I was a little too confident that the reserve wouldn't be met on the car. I was wrong. Oh well. I'll keep my eyes open for another. Ther are many "sharks" in the sea.
