I'm still shopping for my first Vette and saw this one on ebay. I'm curious to hear what all you experts think about it (especially the pictures of the underneath).

Good looking car. Close-up pics would be better. Seller rating is good. If the price suits you, I'd call and ask for more pics. How far away is it from you?
I bought this same car in blue in 1969 brand new for 6560.00.
Looks and sounds like a nice car. If it is what you are looking for and the price is ok with you then the next step is to go look at it or hire someone to do it for you. The pics don't always tell the hole story.
Good luck.
You need to see it in person, pictures (and sellers) can be mis-leading sometimes, as you never know how long ago they were taken. These appear to have been taken when palm trees grew in PA.
Hi lab,
The car certainly looks like it's worth checking out.
I think this is an example of a car that needs to (and can) speak for itself rather than the owner using all the hot-button words that are around car ads now to describe it.
It might well be a survivor, but isn't a Survivor until it makes a successful trip to Bloomington.
Red, 69, 350/350, 4-speed, convertible,.... a lot to like there!
Regards,
Alan
Many thanks for the candid remarks. I don't take the "suvivor" thing too seriously. The car is a few hours from me so if the reserve isn't met again I may take a trip.
64survivor I may take you up on that offer.
SCF100 I never thought to Google the VIN. Very clever. It turned up some interesting info.
Thanks for helping a newbie. I really appreciate it.
Oh yeah, I did notice the palm trees. I thought the seller lived in Southern PA (ha,ha)
Based on this link it looks like he bought the car from a guy in Palm Beach County Florida (561 area code) which is where the palm trees come from. I have to say that it kind of concerns me that someone would post pics from the previous owner which was from June 2009 at best since that is when the auction ended that he purchased. Let's say the seller is telling the truth and did take the pics two years ago when he lived in Florida - kind of misleading to post 2 year old pics in my opinion.

If you look at the underneath of the car, it is a POS.
Note the butchered floor pan and the general underneath condition, probably why the guy is selling it as it looks worse then the pictures show.
It has a nice paint job but that and a 350 hardly makes it a 30,000 car.

Car needs a frame off job.
Dang! You're not kidding! Whats with the driverside floor area? Looks like thin sheets of tin just mounted, Not to mention all the black overspray paint on various areas. LIPSTICK ON A PIG I think.
I'm just a standard weirdo that likes things to be stock looking, and noticed that the crankcase breather looks to be on the wrong side, as is the valve cover holding it. The cover with the logo is supposed to be on the passenger side of the car with the breather, and the driver's side is supposed to house the PCV valve and oil filler cap. Does this matter a ton? I don't know, but it (to me) says something about the guy that put it together. It would be nice if there was a pic of the passenger side of the engine so you could see how the PCV is dealt with (if it is at all).
"Lipstick on a pig" haha. Floor looks like Bubba's work...that sheet is actually bolted into the frame it appears.
They are factory heat shields and while the one looks a little banged up they look like they are correctly mounted from what I recall on my 69 vette having these. They are mounted below the true floor board to help reduce the heat. In 69 the floors are fiberglass and without these shields a LOT of heat will transfer through cooking your toes.
