Need some 1969 HORN help
One of things I wanted him to do is take the POs horn button he mounted off the column on the radio door, and fix the correct center cap horn so it works as it was meant to.
Anyway I bought the 3 pc horn contact kit and proceeded to try to figure out the reassembly. Not a big deal but the tiny exploded view in the AIM wasnt very helpful. But I managed.
Turns out the horn doesnt work from the spring-&-contact as its designed to. Shorting it out with a screw driver in the hole didnt work either.
Whats causing this? The horns under the hood worked fine with the manual off column switch.
Any help?
So it's gotta be the wiring?
. I had a couple of problems. One for sure was that I didn't have the header bar grounded. Second was that one of my horns wasn't working and I think I had bad connections from the horn relay. I took the horn relay apart, filed the points and then crocus clothed them and the other point with the brass post (if you've done it, youu'll know what I mean). I now have it working with the "high" horn for now and will need a "low" horn replacement.

Looking at the horn relay (Im assuming...- DS fender),right side of pic is front, I see this green connector hanging. Is that horn related? No I cant trace it, as its bundled with a bunch of taped up wires and (vac?) tubes.
In my 71, the buzzer comes on if I leave my key in the ignition and the key cannot be removed until I put the car in reverse (4spd).
With that said, in my 69...
My key does not buzz when left in the ignition. Is this related to the same relay?
Possibly also related; I have a Hurst shifter. Did the 69 have the reverse gear unlock for the key as mentioned above? I can remove the key anytime.
Are these all related? Maybe?

I have a similar issue to you. After reconnecting my wires as shown here, I was able to get the 'click' at the horn relay. Now to check my grounds up front and see if my horns work.

69 had the same type interlock that was possibly removed when the Hurst shifter was installed.
The buzzer in both cars is setup pretty much the same way- a contact under the ignition lock (NOT the switch) that has 2 contacts that get pushed together when the key is inserted.
69, the key warning buzzer is intregal to the horn relay. Not sure about the 71. You wiring diagram will show it.
