Default Baldwin Motion possible?

I posted pictures of a 1968 registered vette in my profile. It appears to be a 427 BB. It was a registered ISCA car. It has black diamond tuft interior (a Baldwin Motion speciality) It also carriers the GT style rear window. Does anyone recognize this car? Last titled in Maryland.
Thanks for looking...

After looking at the front headlights, I would say it was an Eklers or some other and not Motion, but you never know.. Looks like a nice project, i am looking for something similar to eat up my free time.. Good Luck!

Hello Neat Car.From what I have heard on the net..Motion used several different parts suppliers for custom "phase III" fiberglass..including Eckler's in the earlier years..the car in the pic appears to have a tilt front with a long Hood "post 73"and the Eckler's GT/Moray Spoiler..doubt it's "Baldwin" Motion..but could be Motion Parts, or maybe even a later Custom Enterprises/Motion Performance build.. you could try to get your dealer code from NCRS..then see if it is one of the supercar dealers..I have been trying for years to find the history on my Custom car..not an easy task..Good Luck with yours .I hope someone who remembers the car comes forward (that would be the easiest)..you might try yenko.net or makoshark2.com those guys are pretty well informed.

I doubt it is a Baldwin Motion Corvette. After market Mako Shark front end and who knows what in the rear. If it was sold new it had to meet Federal Reg. for crash and the front and rear wouldn't in the car you have. Above is a 69 Baldwin Corvette
Baldwin Motion never offered a big block 68.
"The most valuable vintage Baldwin-Motion vehicles are the special-bodied Phase III GT Corvettes and high-option 1969 Phase III Camaros. A total of approximately ten GT Corvettes (in addition to the prototype shown at the 1969 New York Auto Show) were built between 1969 and 1971." Baldwin Motion.

The problem with "Motion" cars are that all the parts could be bought somewhere else. The other problem is that everyone thinks they can mod fiberglass. What made them special was the collection of parts Joel picked and the warrentee from the dealer. The tilt front end and rear flares are deff. NOT Motion. If there are holes in the rear frame that match Dupree fuel pumps, in the fire wall where a Phase III ignition box may have been or on the pass. side trans tunnel where a Hone-O-Drive lever may have been, you might have something. Otherwise you have the makings of a cool hot rod./:\

Contact Joel Rosen. For a non-refundable fee ($1500 last I heard) he will confirm whether the car is a genuine Motion car.

Not to start a massive debate but according to car guy chronicles and past e-bay ads, and there was an article in Corvette Fever too, that red car in the posted pics is a 1968 Corvette originally owned by a guy named Joe Robinson, from PA..who mail ordered all the motion parts and had the car converted to a Motion Phase III GT, in 1973 by a local body shop so it is referred to as a "Catalog Car"..it does not have the rear window treatment, or taillight treatment either..So it's not really a "real" "Baldwin Motion"but it still is a really cool car..
To ad more confusion, I don't believe the Sbarro Headlight treatment was available til 1969 though..all of the 68 BM Vettes I have seen had stock pop-ups..the wild looking GT came out later.

Joel told me $2500 to research/Verify my car last year.I did not have the cash, and it could come back no or even maybe so it's a gamble but worth it if you think you have a high dollar car.. but you could just email him just to see how much he charges now..he is really cool, and replies quickly. He told me that my car looked like their parts and that he didn't know if they built it or not and the only way to tell would be a $2500 non-refundable fee..

I haven't purchased a copy yet, but I have a hunch this would be pretty good reading.

Thanks for the tips. I will look for punched holes. I bought it as a toy, but if it is worth something...I don't want to lessen the value. Someone already made off with its build sheet...

Do they? I have seen them mentioned before, but never actually seen any. and the consoles are all pretty visible in pics..I saw a 68 BM with a custom plaque on the passenger side dash but I don't know if that was legit or not..it was nothing fancy..I would like to know more about these plaques though if they exist, I'm trying to document my car and have come across some strange holes in the storage lids and wonder what size these plaques may be?

Default Motion Corvette

Ladies and gentlemen

There is definitely a distinction between a Motion car that was built at Motion Performance and one that was built outside of Motion Performance using Authentic Motion Performance parts. The one built at Motion performance is considered a Motion car while the one that was built elsewhere using authentic Motion parts is considered a "Motion Catalog or mail-order car"

Either one has significant Motion blood -lines as long as documentation exists from Joel Rosen.

A car built at Motion Performance can go north of $500K while a car that was built elsewhere using authentic documented Motion parts is worth north of $100K. It all depends on the quality of the restoration.

Either way.... it is extremely difficult to find authentic Motion parts that are in decent shape. They will not be cheap!

These cars will be worth a pretty penny in the future. Collectors of these cars usually like the unusual ones anyway and usually never plan on parting with their Motion cars. What was considered a red-headed step-child in the past is considered chic today!

I also am following custom corvettes of the 70's and they are making a great comeback especially Mako Shark corvettes, Believe it or not.. there is a Mako Shark community out there that is planning a comeback of these cars.

Regardless.... these cars are a heck of a lot of fun no matter what they are really worth.

Cheers!
