Just finished my dolly, going to pick up the cherry picker at 515... I was planning on using a bunch of regular ratchet straps as it seems the design lift straps are not necessary and many have done it without them. SO with a little time left, I was going to get the straps somewhat placed before I leave to get the picker... The design of the hook does not work!!! If I go to place the hook under the rocker channel, the shape pushes it into the door and with any pressure it'll crack the fiberglass
So, those of you that didn't use the lift designed straps, what did you use? What shape connectors did they have!!?
take off the hood, and attach straps to the radiator support, outer seat belt bolts and in the rear wheel wells(apply blue masking tape and several layers of duct tape to prevent scratches). use the longest straps that you can so the straps are as vertical as possible. the seat belt bolts will carry most of the load, and the others are to stabilize.

Wanted to get it lifted tonight...
I purchased lifting straps so i can't really answer your main question. Even those had their issue. However, if you can't get the answer you are looking for... see if you can get straps long enough to sling under the body. The only thing you would have to worry about is them sliding toward the centre when you start lifting.

I don't have a driver's side floor, so no seat belt bolts
I had the same issue with the straps I used. I had some heavy duty bushings that i put between the hook and the metal portion of the bird cage. You should be able to use some deep sockets or pipe to keep the hook from pushing into the fiberglass.
Where in Cleveland are you located?

Years ago, I got a lifting strap from - one of the restoration houses, can't remember who at this point. (Maybe Zip?) At any rate, the clips were bent too small. I had to use a press to shove a piece of solid round stock in them and open them up a bit before I could use them.
