1978 pace car auto trans
Please post a few photos when you can . . .sounds like an interesting project . .
Good luck !
"maybe i should have left it. i found the car in my neighbor hood by accident. owner had lost interest years ago. paper work still in dealers name. good price. guess i wll start with carb. tks bj "
No, maybe you shouldn't have left it! Something attracted you to this car! They are really great looking C3's with the two tone black and silver, the red pinstripes and the nice hood markings! Hell yeah, you got this car, be stoked about it. It only has 6K miles, which is great, because there's a whole lot of 78' Pace Cars that have no mileage, little mileage, etc and aren't collecting any extra value any time soon!
So go ahead and get it running and imagine cruising around in it. Let your thoughts wander to being deep in silver leather seats, surrounded by a beautiful Corvette. Does it get any better than that? Well maybe if you got mauled by a pack of hot super models, but this scenario is more likely!

One of the wise members here said (I don't know who, but chime in whoever you are!)
1. Make it Stop
2. Make it Go
3. Make it look Good!
Maybe I didn't get the wording exact, but that's what you're going to do with this.
If the trans fluid is still bright red, then at least the trans is not that big of an issue, but I'd still drop the pan and make sure you don't have the infamous 'cottage cheese' that forms from condensation.
