I was thinking of using one of the arms of my lift (#9,000 two-post) to lift my 1,000# machine up onto its stand. The problem is that the arms only go a bit over 6 feet high, and by the time you add the sling/chain, you won't get much verticle lift.

But if you could lift from between the arms using both arms and low mounting points, perhaps you could get it high enough to clear the front end.

Guess that's one way of doing it, but personally, just forked out for an engine picker, and use it all the time. Pretty nice just leaving the car in one spot, and moving everything else around it.
