Differential/Cross Member Removal
I have trying to remove the differential/cross member on my '70, but I can only lower it about 1/2". Everything is unbolted except the pinion mount for safety.

I just pulled one from the 77 today. The crossmember bolts can be started back into the holes for safety. I drove a large chisel between the frame and mount on the front edge of the mount then used a 3 foot pry bar on the rear edge of the same side at the rear of the mount. It popped loose, then did the same on the other side. Put the jack under it and removed the bolts the rest of the way and lowered it to the floor.
I have heard of others using a large 2 jaw puller at the cross member mount area.

The left crossmember bushing was stuck on mine, and the various prying wouldn't break it loose. I used a 2 jaw puller, with the straight arms, and it came right out. Make sure you have the jack in place, about 1" below the differential, to prevent it from hitting the floor. Have fun.

I supported my crossmember with my floor jack. Placed the bolts in like 75 said. I sprayed the hell out of both bushings with PB blaster for a solid day. Next morning, 3ft pry bar, also like 75 said. POP, POP it seperated. Took out the bolts and lowered with my floor jack, all by myself. No issues.
