expansion alu tank

question? Did all 1970 small blocks come with aluminum radiators and the expansion aluminum tank. The reason for asking is because my car is missing the expansion tank ?

I think not. My '71 is a base-SB w/A/c & auto trans, and it did not come with an expansion tank; nor did it have the A.I.R. pump installed on it. I suspect that the same combo in '70 did not have the expansion tank, either.

does your radiator have a standard radiator cap on it or a metal nipple?

Not all. Stock aluminum radiators do not have separate fill caps and must use the expansion tanks. Copper/brass radiators have their own fill caps and do not use expansion tanks.

Smallblocks with factory AT and/or AC almost always got copper/brass radiators. If your car has the TH400 or factory air, you are probably not missing an expansion tank.
