Help ID side pipe mufflers

Help ID side pipe mufflers

I just took my side pipes off and found the mufflers in less than good condition. The in pipe and out pipe are staggered at 12 oclock and 6 oclock and about 2" in diameter. Are these reverse flow mufflers? Who is the best vender to get new ones from? Where is the best place to get Hooker side mount headers?

I just bought Hooker reverse flows and they are center in-center out

Mike: Tough to answer your questions without more info. Your profile doesn't say what year car you have; are the side pipes OEM or aftermarket; do you want to replace what you have in kind or do you want to change? Pics always help.

Oh sorry, 76 small block, hooker side mounts.

There's no way I'd put reverse flows back in it. They're extremely restrictive and will eat up 50+ hp. At the very least get the glass packs. They're a little louder but less restrictive. Although you could get the Max flows, (I have these) but they are much louder.

Ya, mine are pretty loud, So I guess they are not reverse flows. There is no fiberglass anywhere but this may have long burned out. I kike the sound where it it so I'm trying to find out what they are. How loud are the max flows? Can you hear a passenger talk on the highway?

With the windows up you can.

What size is the pipe in the center of the muffler? The glass packs have a 2" pipe and the max flows have a 2-1/2" pipe.
